Clients MUST keep regular weekly visits. Treating the hair in the early growth
stage is much more effective for permanent eradication.
Hydrate internally!
Drinking 8 – 10 glasses of water per day is a MUST for darker skin tones unedergoing electrolysis! You must have water in your
system before an appointment. A wet follicle is a much better conductor of the
heat / current than a dry one. If you are dehydrated it will take much more
intensity to eradicate the hair making the treatment more uncomfortable.
Clients should use a water based moisturizer day and night. The epidermis needs
water to plump up skin cells, allowing a vehicle for the treatment. Oily
moisturizers, coconut oils and heavy Shea butters do not allow proper conduction
of the current. Vaseline is not a moisturizer!
Daily use of sunscreen with a
SPF of 25+ will lower the probability of hyper-pigmentation.
Regular facial
treatments with an aesthetician to condition the skin is desirable. Professional
care helps exfoliate dead, flaky layers of the epidermis, softens dark, raised
keratinized buildup, and helps, in time, to reveal a brighter and more even skin
tone. Facial treatments will increase the blood flow and circulation, thus
delivering nutrients to tissues and skin cells.
Acid peels and
microdermabrasion procedures for the reduction of thick, keratinized skin can be
extremely helpful to assist in revealing ingrown hairs. Gentle removal of these
skin cells gives water based moisturizers and hydrating serums an opportunity to
penetrate. Professional skincare treatments can give you a softer, smoother and
even skin tone. (Find an expert that has experience with dark and ethnic skin
types).
Shaving, clipping closely or using a depilatory between scheduled
appointments should improve the ease of treating the hair.
